CADE Seeking Qualified Tutors

December 12th, 2012 | Tags:

The Center for Academic Development and Enrichment (CADE) is seeking faculty recommendations for qualified tutors for 100- and 200-level courses for the Spring 2013 semester.  To qualify, students must have completed the class with a grade of B+ or higher and the instructor must feel that the student could effectively convey the information to another student.  We look for students who display interest and knowledge in a subject, who are patient and personable, who can conduct themselves in a professional manner, and who have leadership potential.  In addition to being required to obtain recommendations, tutors are interviewed and then required to attend a two-hour training workshop before they are officially hired.  Training beyond the two-hour workshop is required for tutors to continue tutoring past the first semester.  Tutoring is a paid position and the resulting tutorial experience looks great on a resume.

CADE asks instructors to take a few minutes to look over their fall semester class lists and email Amy Crouse-Powers ( with recommendations for new tutors.  If you send such a list, you do not need to fill out separate recommendation forms for the listed students.  These recommendations will help CADE to provide tutors who can effectively assist students with class material.  CADE is here to support instructors in their endeavor to lead students to academic success.  If you have questions, please give us a call at 607-436-3010.
