William Simons Presents at Conference in Falls Village, CT

William Simons, History Department, delivered two presentations at the Friday, June 28-Sunday, July 1, 2013,  Judaism & Baseball Conference, at the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center, Falls Village, CT. He lectured on   “Where Have You Gone Joe DiMaggio, Jackie Robinson, and Hank Greenberg: Ethnic Heroes in Baseball’s Melting Pot” and “Jews in 1920s Baseball: The Golem, the Rabbi, and ‘That Long-Sought Hebrew Star.’”  Nancy S, Cannon, Milne Reference and Instructional Librarian, provided a research and technical assistance. Other presenters included former Major League Baseball Players Bob Tufts and Elliott Maddox, filmmaker Aviva Kempner, and National Jewish Museum Curator Ivy Weingram.
