SUNY Oneonta has announced the formation of a group that will develop programming to mark the 20th anniversary of the “Black List.” The September 4 Commemoration Committee will convene this semester and work through the summer to prepare for the event, which will be held in September.
Award-winning CNN and ESPN columnist LZ Granderson will speak at SUNY Oneonta on Thursday, April 5. Granderson’s talk, “Dare You to Move,” will begin at 8:30 p.m. in the Hunt Union Ballroom. It is free and open to members of the community.
SUNY Oneonta President Nancy Kleniewski echoed SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher and SUNY Board Chairman H. Carl McCall in endorsing the New York state budget agreement. Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver announced the 2012-2013 spending plan on March 27.
“Day By Day,” a student art exhibition by Kara Zingale, will be on view in the Project Space Gallery in the Fine Arts Building from March 29 through April 13. The fourth annual Ralph R. Watkins Africana Studies Lecture Series at SUNY Oneonta will continue on Thursday, March 29, with a talk by Kwadwo Opoku-Agyemang, Professor of Literature in the Department of English at the University of Cape Coast in Ghana.

The Harry Potter Club at SUNY Oneonta raised $400 for Oneonta Reading is Fundamental, a nonprofit organization that distributes free books to elementary school children, during a Yule Ball on March 9.
SUNY Oneonta once again has been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. Administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the Honor Roll annually acknowledges colleges and universities for exceptional community service. Since the Honor Roll’s inception in 2006, SUNY Oneonta has been selected for it every year.
The College at Oneonta Foundation will celebrate 30 years of giving on March 19. The State University College at Oneonta Foundation Corporation was officially established on March 19, 1982, to raise, receive and manage charitable gifts and grants to SUNY Oneonta.
