Women’s Soccer Team Honored for Academics
The SUNY Oneonta women’s soccer team was honored recently by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for its academic accomplishments as a team. The Red Dragons received a 2011-12 Team Academic Award for the first time since the NSCAA began recognizing teams for their academic accomplishments in 1996.
Oneonta was one of 497 women’s teams from all divisions across the country to be recognized for having a minimum GPA of 3.00 or better as a team during the 2011-12 academic year. Only three SUNYAC schools received this recognition. The team completed its 2012 season with an overall record 12-7-1 and 7-2 in the SUNYAC. The Red Dragons finished second in the conference and advanced to the championship game of the conference tournament.
Founded in 1941 and based in Kansas City, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America is a nonprofit organization with a mission to educate coaches, encourage excellence and serve the soccer community.
