Jean-Paul Orgeron Wins Whitaker Award
Dr. Jean-Paul Orgeron of the Philosophy Department has won the college’s Esther Hubbard Whitaker Award.
The Whitaker Award recognizes a member of one of the six academic departments within the School of Fine Arts and Humanities who is approachable, positive, dedicated, available outside of class, and challenging to students. As part of the honor, Orgeron will receive a $500 stipend to be used for professional development.
Orgeron earned a Ph.D. from Tulane University. His areas of interest are cognitive science and the philosophy of mind.
The Whitaker award was established through charitable gifts from alumni committed to memorializing Esther Hubbard Whitaker and her contributions to the college as a long-time educator in the Music Department, and an organizer and director of many singing groups on campus.
