Members of the SUNY Oneonta senior class and student emergency squad made an overnight doughnut run Thursday to the nearest Krispy Kreme–more than 100 miles away in Clarks Summit, PA,–to bring back a U-Haul full of fresh doughnuts for a fundraiser on the campus quad Friday.

Senior class President Jimmy Johnston started the tradition four years ago and it has become one of the college’s most popular club fundraisers, with students, faculty and staff pre-ordering boxes of doughnuts and lining up on the quad for a taste of the trademark glazed treats.

With Johnston graduating this spring, the Oneonta State Emergency Squad will be taking over the fundraiser next year, and money raised from Friday’s fundraiser will be divided between the two organizations. OSES will use the money to attend an EMT training in Boston, and the senior class will put it toward spring events such as the senior class barbecue and 30 Days Til Graduation celebration.
