SUNY Oneonta senior Jermaine Miller of Elmira, NY, competed for the last time as a Red Dragon on March 19 and 21, returning to the NCAA Division III swimming and diving championships for a third straight year. This year’s championships were hosted by Franklin College on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis, IN.

Miller, who competed in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, was one of only 25 men who qualified for the championships.

“It’s bittersweet,” said SUNY Oneonta swimming & diving head coach Chris Schuler-Ghiorse. “It was exciting to watch him compete, but knowing that his career is over is a little sad. He has come so far during his career and has worked so hard to achieve so much. I am proud of what he has accomplished.”

Miller concluded his career with a 24th- and 20th-place finishes on the 3-meter and 1-meter boards respectively. He scored 380.45 points on the 3-meter and 408.70 points on the 1-meter.

Miller graduates as the school record holder in both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards with scores of 537.20 and 509.50 points, respectively. He set the 1-meter record in November of this year’s season and the 3-meter record set at this year’s SUNYAC championships, where he placed second in the 3-meter and third on the 1-meter boards.

A graduate of Southside High School, Miller is majoring in pre-med at SUNY Oneonta.
