The 2014-2015 New York State budget, passed Monday, includes $13 million for two construction projects at SUNY Oneonta.

“Our elected representatives in Albany are strong advocates for higher education, and this funding will allow the college to move ahead with two large components of our facilities master plan,” said college President Nancy Kleniewski.

The funding will be used for two projects that will relocate the college’s admissions, disability services and tutoring operations to more accessible, modern spaces. A new welcome center, located near prominent academic and student services buildings, will become the new home of the college’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

The Office of Disability Services and Center for Academic Development and Enrichment (CADE) will move to the Milne Library as part of an overhaul of that building. Work in Milne will address students’ needs by reallocating space and upgrading technology throughout the building. It also will include facilities upgrades to increase functionality, sustainability and energy-savings capabilities.
