College Celebrates Green Dragon Week
From April 21-27, SUNY Oneonta celebrated fresh air, clean water, beautiful landscapes and the Oneonta community!
Students, faculty and staff participated in more than 30 fun and educational Green Dragon Week events, including a recycled fashion show, a zero waste ice cream social, a bike repair table, an on-campus thrift store, a composting demonstration, a park cleanup, environmental presentations and documentary showings. These events educated participants on environmental issues and promoted a sense of appreciation and personal connection to encourage environmental protection.
Green Dragon Week was coordinated by the college’s Environmental Activism Club, Environmental Science Club, Student Sustainability Committee and Office of Sustainability. SUNY Oneonta’s Office of Sustainability coordinates energy and waste reduction initiatives on campus and engages the campus community in sustainability programs. The office also works to integrate sustainability into the residential and academic experience.
More information about Green Dragon Week or other campus sustainability initiatives is available from Sustainability Coordinator Hannah Morgan at (607) 436-3312 or Hannah.Morgan@oneonta.edu.
