SUNY Oneonta’s Apollo Music Club will present a concert version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock opera “Jesus Christ Superstar” at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at the Oneonta Theatre on Chestnut Street.

Tickets ($10 general admission and $5 with SUNY Oneonta ID) will be available online and at the Hunt Union information desk starting Sept. 1, and at the door on the evening of the show.

Students, faculty and alumni will collaborate on the performance. Principals will be played by Ryan Quinn, Class of 2013, (Jesus); Dan DeVita, Class of 2010, (Judas); Devon Simmons, Class of 2008, (Simon); music faculty member Steve Markuson, (Caiaphus); and students Leigh Ann Muscarella (Mary), Jared Barton (Herod) and Cristián LaBoy (Peter).

Steve Fabrizio, who studied at SUNY Oneonta in the ’80s and has returned to complete his theater degree after a successful career—including playing the role of Judas in a major national tour of “Jesus Christ Superstar”—will play the role of Pilate and coach the singers.

SUNY Oneonta voice instructor Colby Thomas will direct the show, and applied music lecturer Mark Pawkett will lead the rock band.

Any area alumni who have been involved with the music and theater departments over the years are invited to join in singing the ensemble numbers (no audition required) and can join the cast as late as the work-through on Thursday, Sept. 5, or for the full dress rehearsal on the afternoon of the performance.
