Students to Host Halloween Carnival

Children and families from Oneonta and the surrounding area are invited to participate in back-to-back Halloween events on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

From 4:30 to 6 p.m., the Order of Omega, an honor society for sorority and fraternity members, will host a Halloween carnival featuring face painting, pumpkin bowling, arts and crafts, and a costume contest for kids in the Hunt College Union on campus. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children, and all proceeds will go to Opportunities for Otsego.

Beginning at 6 p.m., student volunteers will guide trick-or-treaters and the adults who accompany them to the residence halls, where students will have snacks and other treats for the children. Campus maps with directions to the residence halls will be available at the carnival, and from orange-clad student volunteers stationed in parking lots adjacent to Hunt Union, MacDuff Hall, Morris Hall and Hulbert Hall. Trick-or-treating will conclude at 8 p.m.

SUNY Oneonta has been inviting community children to trick-or-treat on campus for more than 10 years. Additional information about the event is available from the SUNY Oneonta Office of Residential Community Life at (607) 436-2514.
